The White Swan Inn

The bed was comfy, the shower nice and warm, and we felt very welcome when we arrived. The room was excellent value with a fabulous breakfast included: my husband had a full English and I had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, alongside the usual tea, coffee, juice, cereal and fruit. We also enjoyed an evening meal of typical pub grub, especially the sticky toffee pudding. The surrounding area is picturesque, though we didn't get a chance to explore since this was just an overnight stay.

We had dinner in the bar the evening before our B&B stay. We shared one starter and two mains, and the food was very good, though the portions were so generous we couldn't finish. The whitebait is especially worth recommending, and drinks at the bar were very reasonably priced. The room was huge, with an extra-large king bed, a single bed and a sofa, yet never felt cramped. It also had a kettle, tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. The en suite was large and the shower excellent, though there's no bath. Breakfast was as generous as dinner, with good ingredients, which I imagine may be locally sourced given the farming area. Excellent value for money, and a pleasant, homely pub stay if you don't need hotel extras such as a spa or gym. It did have the crucial Wi-Fi throughout.

The Sunday roast was a real treat, with tender, lean meat, proper stuffing and good vegetables. It was a friendly, bright and very clean place too. Only downside is having to travel 500 miles to get there. I'll be back!

The staff were lovely and really looked after us, and we had no complaints about the food. Our room at The White Swan Inn was clean and comfortable, with everything we needed and a great shower. It was also well placed for getting around the area. We had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely recommend it.
