The location's great, and I'd happily stay again at this comfortable, well-run hostel. Self check-in was easy, and communication was excellent. Staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating. They even arranged a ground-floor bottom bunk for me, perfect for a very mature backpacker. Thanks so much! I was in a lovely, spotless six-bed women's dorm. Everything was new and finished to a high standard, with a privacy curtain, reading spotlight, two USB sockets and a three-pin socket. The bedding was new, crisp and clean, and the eco-friendly sheets came with a soft, bouncy pillow. The en-suite facilities for the women's dorm are on the ground floor and include two shower rooms, one with a toilet, plus a separate toilet. The fittings were lovely. The new showers have an overhead rain shower and a separate handheld shower, with great pressure. What a difference! There's a handy eating area with a microwave and kettle, plus a hot water tap beside the coffee machine. A brilliant Spar is almost next door, selling cakes, pies, fresh bread and an excellent £3 breakfast bap. Other useful shops are nearby too, including a Londis with a post office. Thank you, Jed & team at Base camp. This was my first visit to Betws-y-Coed, and Base Camp Hostel was a fantastic find.

As a solo traveller, I felt relaxed and welcome here. The hostel was calm and peaceful, and I really appreciated that. Toilets were well maintained, the room was clean, comfortable and nicely set up, and the service throughout was excellent. Check-in was smooth and easy by 5 pm. There's a nearby drive, and the location is convenient as a base for exploring the area. I had a great stay and would happily recommend it.

The bedrooms were good, the bathrooms excellent, and the communal area was pleasant and well stocked with games and other things. You can make a hot drink, and there's a microwave and fridge, but a kitchen would make the hostel better. Without one, I guess the local pubs and eateries do well from people going out for meals, though it adds to the cost of staying here. Still, a great hostel.

Our group of nine had an amazing time at Base Camp. There were lots of good walks and hikes nearby, and getting to Snowdonia was easy, just one bus. We found the pubs and restaurants really good too, and the staff can tell you where to go. Don't have outdoor gear? There are plenty of shops for clothes and equipment, including one right across the road. The common room was comfy and a great place for us to meet, plan the day, play games, chat and make things together. Our room of six and room of four were both really cosy, and it all felt like a luxury getaway. The amenities were excellent and the staff friendly, especially Rowern and Jed. The cafe/bar made great coffee and served beer and wine. There was a wet room where we could dry swimsuits and wet towels, and the bathrooms were spotless with nice shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Highly recommend!

Parking might be tricky for larger groups, and you may have to use the nearby car park. It wasn't an issue for me, and felt like a small price for such a great stay. The staff were excellent, friendly and full of local knowledge. The location is fantastic, right in the middle of town, with clean, thoughtfully arranged rooms. Each bunk had its own light, socket and curtain, which was brilliant, and the toilets and showers were very good. We only stayed one night because everywhere else was fully booked, and it turned out to be an interesting experience. The downside was noise in our room at night. People were still using the toilets after midnight, and the overhead door closers made the doors slam terribly every time. Sleeping nearby, I could hear everything, flushes included, even with earplugs.
