The Captains Quarters, Woolsery

Gabby was a lovely host and had advice on everything from places to eat to local sights. The property is ideally placed for exploring North Devon, and inside it’s fitted out to a very high standard. There’s a fully equipped kitchen, a beautiful bedroom area, a large bathroom with a walk-in shower, and lovely decoration throughout. I’ve stayed in many properties in different places, but this has been the best by far. Looking forward to coming back soon.

We only scratched the surface of the area and hope to return. There’s plenty to see and do nearby, and Hartland Quay is worth visiting for its spectacular views. Docton Mill and gardens are a lovely spot for cream tea and a gentle stroll. The village is small, with a pub and shop within easy walking distance. The pub looked very nice, but was busy at Easter, so we didn’t go in. Gabriella had warned us it would be worth booking ahead, but we’d booked the flat at the last minute and didn’t get the chance. The host was friendly and available, while giving us space to enjoy the quiet rural setting. The flat was clean and freshly decorated, with everything we needed in the kitchen and elsewhere, including soft bathrobes. There was a welcome pack with snacks, tea and coffee, plus treats and a ball for our very happy dog. The folder of information about the flat, local walks and attractions was really useful. We’d recommend it to anyone after a quiet retreat with lots to do nearby.

I stayed in this comfortable, well-appointed studio flat a couple of months ago. Everything was finished to a very high standard, and I’ll definitely stay again when I’m in the area.

We came across this place by chance and were so glad we did. It was spacious, spotlessly clean and really well appointed. The hosts made us feel welcome and left treats for us and our little dog. The value amazed me, and I’d happily stay again.
