Hilton Birmingham Metropole

The staff were lovely and usually attentive and quick. I had a king suite with a lovely, spacious room and a brilliant view of the lake and resorts world. But the air conditioning was very poor, so we couldn't spend as much time in the room as we'd wanted. The Executive Lounge was calm, but also too warm to stay in for long. As a Gold Hilton Honours guest, I was disappointed by a few details in the room, including the bathroom. It was an okay stay, though there's quite a bit that needs improvement.

Dinner was excellent for such a large group, and breakfast was a great experience too. I was here for a work function with more than 350 people and was impressed by how well the hotel organised everything despite its size. It was all handled efficiently and to a high standard. The room was a good size as well.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, but the rooms were a bit of a letdown. The bathrooms felt outdated and were very small. Shared restrooms weren't clean either, which added to the poor impression. The restaurant was the biggest disappointment. We ordered burgers and pizza, and the food felt overpriced for its quality. The burgers were bland. Two friends who ordered pizza waited about 50 minutes, while someone who ordered fish and chips got their meal in five minutes. Some of us were served within 30 minutes. At a hotel of this standard, we expected better coordination and for meals to arrive at the same time. It was acceptable for one night after the Gladiators experience, but we wouldn't choose to come back.

Danny made check-in quick and easy for me and my friend, and it was always a pleasure chatting with Sarah Jane. Her different outfits put a smile on my face, and everyone was so lovely. We had an amazing time at confuzzled. Thanks for hosting us, and see you next year! I'd give the staff more than five stars if I could :3
