Malmaison Birmingham

We had a fabulous breakfast as newlyweds, and the staff were amazing. Everyone was happy, the rooms were great, and we had a lovely stay. I spent the night before the wedding at Malmaison with my family, then stayed again overnight after the wedding with friends and family. Thank you!

Mae, the Assistance Reception Manager, got in touch soon after I raised the issue and arranged a refund for the booking value minus what I assume was the hotel.com commission. Amazing customer service from Mae and the Bham team, who went above and beyond even though the problem was with hotels.com. We'll definitely return, but book direct for peace of mind and Club Mal's benefits. ❤️ The hotel itself was great. Our room was spacious and extremely comfortable, reception staff were accommodating, and it's well placed for the centre, theatres, art galleries, bars and restaurants. During the 32c+ heatwave, the air con actually worked and wasn't noisy, which was a godsend. The booking through Hotels.com was awful and unfair. The payment and app kept crashing, and I accidentally ended up with two rooms when I only wanted one. It wasn't my fault, but after I couldn't get a refund, I was offered a change of date for one of them. Hotels.com seemed to hide behind the hotel's cancellation policy even though its app and payment service weren't fit for purpose. Now we have to go back later in the year to use the unwanted booking, and it's cost us even more. I've since heard this isn't uncommon. I'd recommend booking direct.

We tried the lunch they provided, and there was a lively plant-based choice for me, more than just a falafel wrap. The work+play business meeting room and facilities were brilliant. Recommended, and we'll use it again.

The Birmingham Malmaison feels just as luxurious as the others. My room was spotless, with quirky decor and a huge, comfortable bed. The bathroom was well equipped, the toiletries were high quality, and the water was hot with great pressure. Staff were warm and welcoming, which made the stay enjoyable. It's a five-minute walk from the Bullring and the train station. I'll definitely stay again.
