The food was great, honestly, they can make a chip look gourmet. The venue has stunning 360-degree views, and most of the spa windows are panoramic, so you get a lot for your money. Staff give it a first-class feel, and the ladies’ changing rooms are very private and well stocked. Great for families, a girls’ day, or a really romantic setting.

The food was a highlight at the wedding. Every course was delicious, nicely presented and served piping hot, even with so many guests. The bar and service teams were brilliant all evening. Stanley House Hotel & Spa is a stunning setting, mixing modern elegance with historic charm, and the grounds were beautifully kept for photos. The day was arranged flawlessly, from the ceremony setup through to the evening reception. Staff were friendly, attentive and clearly invested in making it run smoothly. A fantastic wedding venue, with an atmosphere and service that exceeded expectations. I’d happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable place in the Blackburn area.

The three-course wedding breakfast was incredible, and our guests were really impressed, with plenty giving it five stars. We felt like royalty on the day, and every member of staff looked after us with the biggest smiles. We’re so glad we held our wedding at this beautiful venue and will definitely come back soon. Katie made sure every detail was right from the moment we booked, replying to all our emails and questions so the day went just as my husband and I had imagined. Katie and Vic went above and beyond. We’re so grateful to them, the servers, chefs and event staff. Thank you all.

The spa was a brief, mediocre break from the rest of the stay, though paper cups were scattered everywhere and no one seemed inclined to clear them. This was meant to be a special birthday for my girlfriend, but the meal and nonexistent customer service left us angry and distraught. I tried at the front desk to cancel our room so we could go home, but the receptionist was rude and dismissive. They said the restaurant manager was on annual leave and we couldn’t get a refund. When I asked who was covering and insisted on speaking to them, I was refused without any solution. A thoroughly awful hospitality experience. Avoid this place at all costs. The trouble started in the room. A single rouge rose petal was on the bed, apparently left by the previous guests. The receptionist had called housekeeping to confirm the room was ready and checked, which did little to reassure me that the sheets were fresh. The restaurant was a shambles from the start. No one greeted us or was around to guide us, so we had to go to the bar ourselves. Three different servers attended to us in a chaotic way. The menus were crumpled, stained scraps of paper, and ordering brought a string of “we’ve got none of that left” and “we’ve ran out” responses. The beer taps were broken too, with only bottles available. Service got worse. We were checked on twice while waiting for starters, which arrived before the “while you wait breads” we’d ordered to have first. Somehow we got three sauces after asking for one, including one of the items we’d originally been told was out of stock. The food was shockingly poor. The chimichurri was a watery pool of oil with no greenery or texture, unlike any I’d seen. Truffle fries weren’t available, so they offered triple cooked chips instead. If they really were triple cooked, the first two rounds must have been in a microwave. They were soggy and tasted like cardboard. Nobody checked on us during the mains. My medium-rare steak arrived grey and medium-well. The food was so bad I wouldn’t even consider feeding it to my dog. The kitchen shouldn’t be producing this standard.
