We spent a weekend away with four girlfriends and somehow came here every day. D and A were so welcoming, even making room for us when the pub was packed. The home-cooked food is superb, especially those chips. The landlord and lady are perfect hosts. This place is a must if you're in the area. We can't wait to come back and see you soon xxx

The staff are genuinely friendly and keen to help, and the ale is good too. In winter you might get the lovely roaring fire, though the less lucky ones end up in a pretty dismal side room. The TVs may be a plus or a minus depending on how you feel about balls and beer. It's not quite a destination pub, but it's worth seeking out. Honest, and I liked it.

I was working nearby and stopped at The Lord Nelson for a meal. Eating on my own can make me a bit anxious, but the welcome from the staff was so warm and the service was fantastic. The food was stunning too. I was really glad I found it and will definitely come back if I'm up this way again.
