Kennedy House - Beachfront

For that price, this grubby, council-flat-type place was ridiculous. The description made it sound far better than it was, and I felt embarrassed bringing my partner there. Everything looked worn out, rusty, and dirty. I've stayed in loads of places in Blackpool, and this was the worst. There are much better options.

The place was in a horrific state of disrepair. Even Pontins would be an improvement, and I wouldn't stay here again even for free. They took my £100 deposit twice, ignored my messages, and I had to get the money back through my bank. I've reported it to booking.com and other review sites. Then they had the cheek to email offering 10% off a future stay. Hello, what!

The photos don't show how awful it was, and nothing was clean. We were promised views, but it was a very run-down council property that should have been condemned. The bedding was so dirty we had to wash it three times, and the smell was unbearable. We wanted to leave early. Every window was screwed shut, including the bathroom window, and all the opening windows were broken. Do not book this, it's a death trap.

There were a few new things: towels, sheets, pans, knives, a chopping board, and curtains. The curtains were very thin and cheap, though. The apartment had a non-existent wifi signal, lots of water stains, and punctured bathroom panels. The laminate floor was badly water-damaged and not fit for use. First impressions were poor: litter in the car park, a rust-stained exterior, and plywood boarding part of the front door. Rust was all over the place, including the keypad, microwave, radiators, table base, windows, cooker parts, tea and sugar containers, and curtain poles. Several doors were badly fitted and wouldn't close properly, and one handle was hanging off. The bathroom window was screwed shut and the other opening windows were broken. Safety equipment, including the fire blanket and extinguisher, didn't seem to be maintained regularly. There was no mattress protector, and the sheets didn't fit well, leaving bare mattress visible. The kitchen also lacked utensils: no colander, measuring jug, oven dish, oven mitts, or wooden spoons.
