MyRoomz Silver Strand Hotel

The hosts were the best part of a very good Blackpool stay. They were friendly, accommodating and ready to do anything for us, including recommending places to eat. Wetherspoons is just a couple of minutes away if you fancy somewhere cheap and cheerful. The rooms are basic but clean, and it’s excellent value. Five-star service from these lovely people. We’ll definitely be back soon. Thank you so much!

The room was cold and damp, with no heating. The window was broken and wouldn’t shut, and the wall underneath was partly missing, patched with bits of plastic. The radiator was hanging off the wall, held up with screws. There were holes and burns in the carpet, cigarette burns in the mattress, and the bedding hadn’t been cleaned or changed. The bed frame looked chewed up, like it had been damaged by a dog. The TV had been pulled off the wall and was resting on drawers, the wallpaper was peeling in several places, and there were holes in the ceiling. I know it was a cheap last-minute booking, but I wouldn’t let my dog stay there. I don’t know how places like this stay open.

The place looked nice outside, but inside it smelled of cigarettes and other things. The building was falling apart, with worn furniture coming away from the walls, mould on the window and blood-like and other odd stains on the walls and furniture. There was hair and pubic hair all over the shower and bathroom floor, a toilet that wouldn’t flush, no hot water or heating, and stained bedding with more hair. Ceiling tiles were coming apart. There was no wardrobe or place for our clothes, and we found rubbish and a dirty towel under the bed. There were bedbugs, banging from around 7 or 8 pm until 2 or 3 in the morning, and loud music on most nights. We asked for towels, but got none during our four days there. We locked the room whenever we left, yet came back to find it open each time. The sink was in the bedroom, not the bathroom, the mirror light didn’t work, and the remote had mould inside and was useless. The kettle was covered in green stuff. It was disgusting, nothing like the photos online, and the service was terrible.

The mattress sagged on one side, the bathroom had no toiletries, and the floor sloped. The decor was old, tired and dirty. At night, there was constant loud noise from people shouting, banging and screaming, with foul language, when we were trying to sleep. It’s cheap for a reason. I’ll never stay here again, and I’d keep my money for a place with a decent standard of accommodation.
