Norbreck Castle Hotel Blackpool

The staff were a saving grace, friendly and helpful, and the conference facilities were good. Our beds and towels were clean, and there was a hearty breakfast in a clean dining hall. Dinner was hot and filling, though unappetizing, and the salad choice was limited but fresh. Rooms were shabby and very basic, with no housekeeping offered. The hotel itself is run-down and needs a complete overhaul. The entrance was broken, the pond was full of rubbish, the lift was dirty and the exterior was crumbling. We were there for a dance weekend, which was a blast, but otherwise I wouldn’t touch the place. We asked for a fridge for medication, and the only thing that worked was the light. It arrived dirty, with a carton of spoiled milk that looked months old. The hotel is directly across the road from the tram into Town Centre.

The room was normally fine, but on our visit the toilet wouldn’t flush. Reception did everything possible to help, and we were moved to a cool room. Its TV wasn’t working either, but I managed to fix it myself. All in all, 6/10.

We had a lovely stay, even though the hotel is dated, as are most places in Blackpool, aren’t they? The food and staff were lovely, the entertainment was great, and the room was clean despite being old-fashioned. After reading the reviews I’d been dreading it, but I’d definitely stay again.

We booked one night and won’t be back. We’d stayed here before, so the state of the bathroom was disappointing. It was dirty, and the broken window in room 5 wouldn’t lock. We also had room 3, a twin accessible room, which was grubby too. An extra bed had been squeezed in and took up space a wheelchair user really needed. The corridors also need vacuuming. I never understood why people complained so much about this hotel until this stay. Now I do.
