The bar was well stocked and had a pool table, and the full English breakfast was lovely. We booked two standard double rooms, both clean and comfortable, with a great shower and plenty of water pressure. The host went out of his way to cater for my vegetarian daughter. It’s close to everything but still far enough away to relax. Highly recommend, and we’ll stay again. Mr J Banner

We stayed over Easter weekend. From outside the hotel looked fine, but inside it felt like Fort Knox, with the dining room and bar lounge doors locked until you asked for them to be opened. Our triple double room with a shower was very basic. The bedding had hairs on it, the base cover was marked, and cleanliness wasn’t great. I spoke to a staff member, Guru, who sent cleaners up to hoover the bedding. That was a bit laughable, as they didn’t seem keen to help and said I could leave and get a refund if I wanted to inspect everything. It was a last minute booking and we had a long journey, so we stayed one night. Guru was helpful in the end, letting the kids use the pool for free and allowing us to keep our drinks in the fridge behind the bar. The bar and pool room close at 10pm, and they only have spirits, no beer or cider.

After a full day of sightseeing, it was lovely to relax with a glass of wine in the nicely decorated bar. The manager was attentive to what I needed. My deluxe double was very clean and had a good sized bathroom. I had an amazing stay and will definitely come again.

The guy was really friendly, and that’s what earned the two stars. The place was very rough, though the bed was comfortable. There was no hot water for the shower, the room window wouldn’t open, and the bar was shut when we went down. The decor and furnishings felt old and tired, the carpet had stains, and there was no parking.
