Queens Mansions: Ocean View Apartment

We loved the spot and will definitely come back. Our one-bedroom flat was clean, spacious and very nice, and there's a huge car park on site. The beach is right outside, and the tram stop in front of the building makes getting to the town centre easy. At low tide you can walk out to a rock to pick fresh mussels to cook and eat, and you can wade a long way into the sea. There are restaurants and coffee places around the corner on Red Bank Road.

The art deco building is right by Bispham tram station and next to Red Bank Rd, with its niche restaurants and cafes. The area is lovely, though a bit far from the town centre. Luckily, the tram stops right in front and gets you there quickly. Our flat was big, very clean and had all the equipment we needed. Smart locks meant we could arrive late without bothering anyone, though you can call them 24 hours.

We've been coming to Queens Mansions as a family for more than 20 years, usually twice a year, and the location we love hasn't changed. We were a little unsure about the new management, but those worries turned out to be unfounded. The apartment was as clean and tidy as ever, and we liked the coded entry system better than keys. My son was impressed by the improved Wi-Fi, too. I'm holding back the fifth star because work is still underway on the balcony in our favourite apartment and the rest of the facade. Exceptionally heavy rain also caused a little water to come in by the kitchen window on our last night. Staff were keen to get it fixed quickly and welcomed a short video I took to show exactly where it was coming in. I'm sure the small snagging jobs that come with new ownership will be finished by our future visits, and then five stars all round will be deserved.

We were one level up in a lovely little apartment with two balconies. It cost a bit more, but we went on the light switch on weekend, so that was to be expected. Everything was clean, and we hadn't expected much in the way of supplies, but there was shampoo, soap, tea and coffee, plus toast holders and loads of cups and glasses in the cupboards. It would have been fine for a longer break, too. Sainsbury's is just around the corner, and there's a Red Lion Beefeater three minutes away by car with a cracking breakfast.
