Ryan made the night for us. He really knows his bourbons and whiskeys, took time to explain the choices, and let us sample several. We’re two lads born and raised in Blackpool and have tried plenty of seafront places over the years, but this bourbon and cigar spot at 419 Promenade stood out. The atmosphere felt relaxed, classy and welcoming, and nothing was rushed. The whole experience was accommodating and top quality. Ryan was a credit to the business, and we’ll be back next time we’re down by the beachfront. Highly recommend it if you like whiskey, cigars and good service.

The location is the one real plus, and the price doesn't feel justified by the experience. At first the hotel looked like a typical Blackpool seafront place, with apparently clean rooms and a nice bar featuring American Wiskeys. Then there was the man running things when we checked in, who mumbled and was a bit rude. Late at night he knocked on our young female family member's door to ask if she was alone. Utter creep, and he had nothing to say for himself. Behind the headboard was completely mouldy, as was the bathroom sealant. The beds could give you a bad back, if you don't already have one.

Great location, but there was no one at reception to tell about the ice-cold shower. The room was okay, though a little dusty, as if it hadn't been cleaned in a while.

The location is brilliant and the bar has a lovely view, but that was all we enjoyed. My daughter booked two nights for family. Her family room had mould covering the wall behind the bed, and our small double was filthy. The blind was dirty and tatty, the carpet was dirty and loose, lifting in places so the floorboards showed. Some bedding was marked, the walls were dirty and peeling, and the grotty shower leaked across the bathroom. The rooms are very small, which might have been manageable if they were nice. Even a cheap budget hotel should meet certain standards. Never again.

I couldn't get help from staff: there was no one at reception in the mornings, and I didn't see any hotel staff otherwise. The room was dirty and poorly maintained. Dust covered the coat rack, windowsill, lamps, chandelier and fan; the carpet hadn't been vacuumed, the cups were dirty, and the coffee pot was dirty and empty. The kettle was heavily calcified, and the sink setup made it hard to refill. There was no soap or shower gel, no spoons or milk, and the bathroom fan was broken. Paint peeled from the walls, the bathroom ceiling was mouldy, the blind was torn, and the bunk bed mattress had a hole. The room had no proper ventilation, the door was difficult to open and had to be slammed, and the view was just rubbish. I'd asked for a room with a view when booking, but didn't get one. Parking was poor too, and at checkout I had to call to get my car moved. The Facebook photos are misleading. It's ugly, dirty and smelly. Good intentions aren't enough.
