Sutcliffe Hotel

We were four women aged 60 to 70, staying from 12-19 October 2025, and had a thoroughly enjoyable week. Our twin room had a shower, toilet and tea and coffee facilities, and the rooms were nice. The food was really good, with a nice range at breakfast and teatime. There was bingo at 7:30 each night, followed by different entertainment from 8:30 to 11pm. We liked that it didn't run late. The owner was very nice, and Phil, the manager, was lovely and helpful. The waitresses were helpful too. There's a little paper shop next door and a tattooist opposite with 5-star ratings. The hotel is just behind the tower, so it's central for everything. This is our favourite place in Blackpool, and we're definitely going again in 2026.

The rest of the staff we met were friendly, and for a 2-star hotel it was about what you'd expect. Our room was small, but the bed was large and comfortable. The shower and toilet were clean, and towels were provided. There was a kettle with tea, coffee, milk and sugar. The TV plug wouldn't reach the socket, so I had to ask for an extension lead. The poor first impression came at check-in: the email from the third party said 2pm, but when we arrived then, the abrupt older woman at reception rudely said we couldn't check in until 3pm and pointed to the sign. She was very unhelpful. Reception could use some better customer service and guest interaction.

The room was just the right size for one adult, and breakfast was perfect both mornings. As a vegetarian I was well catered for, with lots of extras, and the waiting staff were attentive, especially Darryl, who served me each morning. The location is handy, about a two-minute walk from Coral Island and the amenities near North Pier, with a cinema next door. The heating stayed on in the small room and made it feel like a sauna. Staff switched it off temporarily when I mentioned it, but I struggled to sleep the first night. I got the window open on the second night, though that didn't help much. The front desk lent me an iron and ironing board for free when I asked. I accidentally hit and broke the ceramic toilet roll holder with my head, and they were lovely about it. I'd rate the stay 8/10.

We wouldn't stay anywhere else. The staff are lovely, the food is second to none, and the rooms suit our needs. Bar prices are good, and when there's entertainment we really enjoy it. Everyone's very friendly. There are two of us, but I wouldn't hesitate to go on my own. Well done.
