The Aberford Hotel

The staff were so kind and helpful, and made sure my father and the rest of us were comfortable. Stairs can be difficult for my family, so they helped us get rooms on the ground floor and sorted out so much of what we needed. Breakfast was delicious too. We had a fantastic stay, have booked again, and plan to return for years to come. Thanks so much to the team for everything. See you soon.

I arrived on the evening of April 17th and discovered my Booking.com reservation was a sham because of a data breach. The hotel manager spent nearly an hour sitting with me and trying to sort it out, but Booking.com got nowhere. The owner then offered me a room for the night at no charge. I handed over my ID for the night and got it back when I returned the keys in the morning. I offered to pay cash, but they wouldn't take it. I'd highly recommend this hotel to everyone. Just don't use Booking.com, book directly with the hotel.

Avoid. I can't comment on a stay, but the lack of communication has been a joke. For more than two weeks, my booking platform and I have tried to contact the hotel by phone, text and email, without a reply. One number's mailbox is full, and the other isn't in service. We only needed to change some information that the hotel had to update. I've heard people say it could be a scam. A friend booked for July and had her family check the place out. Her gran told her to cancel right away. They went over and knocked, and a homeless man outside said it had shut up shop. So why take people's money? We were meant to come in May, but won't bother. We're travelling with kids and don't want to be stranded. Be very careful, you could end up like people here who booked, turned up, and had nowhere to stay. This is a genuine review, and I have witnesses who can say what happened. A glowing review on here seems a bit suspicious.

We came out of season, while the new owners were updating some of the rooms. It was clean and tidy, and we were surprised that breakfast and unlimited tea and coffee while serving were included. There are also a couple of really good, cheap bars within walking distance.
