The Argyll Guest House

The breakfast was fantastic and there was loads of it, enough to keep us going for hours. The bar prices were really good, and Debbie and Dave were a canny couple. We also liked being near the seafront and the tower. We were the only guests, which helped, as the long drive had left the kids overtired and prone to a few meltdowns. I’d made a mistake with the Booking.com rooms. I’d booked three rooms for five adults and two children, but the booking showed three adults and two children. Dave was a bit put out, but agreed to fit in the extra two adults for £40, so that was sorted. The musty smell hit us as we entered Argyle House, and the hallway carpet was filthy. I was worried about the room, but carried on. I had room 4, a double, while the others had a double and a family room with bunks. My room was okay and less musty than downstairs. It was cool, the shower room and toilet were adequate, and the bed was super comfortable. I slept well. There was a lot of black mould on the showerhead, though, and that seems like a cheap, easy fix. The other rooms had a couple of problems, which we reported and the hosts fixed straight away. They’d asked us to tell them about anything wrong so they could sort it out. I always try to be fair.
