The Caledonian Tower Hotel

The location was perfect, parking was easy and drinks were cheap. My mum, sister and I had a lovely stay, thanks to the very friendly staff who couldn’t have done more for us. Courtney, the friendly long-haired guy with glasses at the bar whose name I can’t remember, and the night porter were all wonderful and always smiling. We’ll definitely be back because of them. Thanks so much, guys!

This was my second visit with friends, and it’s hard to beat for the price. The hotel is dated and could use some attention in places, but it was warm, clean and tidy. The food was simple, fresh and tasty, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We’ll probably be back later in the year.

Getting around can be difficult if you’re disabled, as there are a lot of stairs. The rooms were clean and fairly spacious, though they could use a fresh coat of paint. The evening performers were excellent.

The hotel is conveniently set back from the seafront’s main road, so there’s no traffic noise, and public transport is close by. The staff were very helpful and friendly, but meal service felt disorganised, perhaps because there weren’t enough staff. We found the evening meals poor and generally ate out instead. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance. Breakfast was more than adequate. It’s a very basic hotel, but the price reflects that. Our room was clean and tidy, with a comfortable firm bed, though the pillows were terrible.
