The Holmeleigh Hotel

For the price and how close it is to everything in Blackpool, I really can't complain. The little rooms were clean and comfortable, with tea and coffee facilities. The bed was okay, though I can only speak for the one I slept in. Parking is at the back, but it's best to arrive early.

We booked in a rush because of a time constraint, and I regret it. My partner was treated rudely by Wendy when we stopped by last week, though we went ahead with the booking. The room smelled funny and wasn't up to scratch. When I asked to borrow an ironing board, Wendy huffed and rolled her eyes. It felt like a Basil Fawlty interaction. There are plenty of nearby places, so do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else.

We enjoyed our stay at the holmeleigh. Wendy was a lovely host, especially in the current climate, and breakfast each morning was lovely too. The room was a bit small and the bed a little hard, though that's just my opinion. Neither took away from how clean the hotel was or the quality of breakfast.

Wendy was warm and welcoming, the food was outstanding, and the bed was really comfortable. The room was clean, and having parking on site was a godsend, even if the spaces were extremely tight. It was also very hot in the room, and a fan would have helped. The decor could use an update, with green pillows, blue bedding, red and white lamps, and cream curtains. The room itself was cramped, especially the tiny bathroom. As a larger woman, I struggled to get past the sink into the shower and couldn't bend down to shave my legs. Breakfast was stunning, though my plate was taken while I was still eating toast, so I had to butter the last slice with my teaspoon. We came back early in the morning after going out, and the loud floorboards led to a polite note asking us to be quieter the next night. That's understandable, but if you're planning a drinking night away and coming in during the early hours, this might not be the best fit. The next morning, a couple opposite us waiting to check out were talking about the same issues. I understand the hotel can't do much about the room sizes or parking. I enjoyed the stay and the hospitality, but would have preferred more space and felt more comfortable arriving late. That's just my own view, not a reflection on the hotel.
