The Osborne - Guest house

Fred is a fantastic, friendly host and was happy to help with anything we needed. The hotel is still being done up, but the essentials for a good stay are there or nearby, and the street is very quiet. We all enjoyed our stay and will book again soon. It should be even better once the work is finished. Thanks for having us.

Under new management, with good prices for room-only stays. The location is great, and there’s a pool table and bar area. Rooms, including the family rooms, were clean and spacious. Seven of us stayed, and none of us had any problems. We’ll definitely return.

This was my third stay, and I won’t be returning. I’d booked and paid eight weeks ahead for a September weekend with my 13-year-old daughter, but on arrival the man said we had no room booked. After checking, he found the booking and said I’d booked for myself and a child. When I confirmed that was right, he said my daughter didn’t look like a child. I told him she was 13, but he said his policy counted children as under 12. With nowhere else to go, I felt stuck and was told to pay another £40. The room I got felt like a throwback to the 70s, and the sliding toilet door barely left space to sit on the pan when shut. I feel I was taken advantage of because I was there with my kids and had little real choice. Very disappointed, Dave.

The host was excellent and very helpful. My room was spotless, and I felt really welcome. I’d highly recommend staying here and will be back soon. Thanks for the hospitality.
