The Rowan Hotel

Maddie and John welcomed us at the door, showed us around and took us to our room. John even carried our suitcase. The room was beautiful, clean and spacious, breakfast was amazing, and there was a good choice of alcohol at the bar. Nothing was too much trouble. We definitely recommend the hotel and will be back soon. Thanks, Maddie and John, for your hospitality.

We come every year for a weekend, and it feels like home from home. Maddie and John are fantastic hosts, nothing is too much trouble for them. It’s a gem of a hotel. We don’t mind being away from the hustle and bustle, as the trams stop at the top of the road, and the walk in is great x x

Just home from another fantastic stay at The Rowan Hotel. John and Maddie are excellent hosts, and the place always feels like home. They’re very friendly and accommodating. On arrival, Maddie offered us a choice of rooms because the weather had been exceptionally warm: our usual room, which might have been too warm, or another that would be cooler. She was thinking of our comfort and went the extra mile, as she always does for guests. The room was spacious with excellent storage, a large comfortable bed, and fresh towels folded into love swans. The shower room was a decent size, with a lovely shower, good pressure, and complimentary shower gel, shampoo and shower cap. There was bottled water, tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits, with top ups whenever needed. John makes a fantastic cooked breakfast. There are also cereals, orange juice, tea and coffee, and toast. They cater for dietary requirements if you mention them to John and Maddie when booking or checking in. The hotel’s bar is a lovely place to relax, have a drink and chat. The North end location is excellent. You can stroll into the town centre, or catch the tram or bus at the bottom of the road. Please always book directly with the hotel.

We stayed for two nights in a family room that was a great size for four and had its own bathroom. The owners were lovely, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was one of the nicest I’ve had.
