Village Hotel Blackpool

The grounds are lovely and the location is nice, and the bed seemed comfortable. But for nearly £300 for one night in a family room with breakfast, I expected more. The room was functional but cramped, with little beyond the usual tea and coffee sachets. It was unbearably warm, with only a fan and no AC. The spotlights blinked and one bulb was out, adding to the disappointment. We arrived after 3 and were told at check-in that our room wasn't ready. The bar was overpriced and poorly stocked, and the food had sold out by 6pm. We chose a family room with bunk beds, but the steps were peeling and felt unsafe. The bedside charging points didn't work. It wasn't a bad stay, but it certainly wasn't worth what we paid. Hopefully breakfast will be good.

The gardens were lovely and well kept, with a big car park. We enjoyed the clean leisure facilities and the great food, and had a really good stay. The hotel is close to the zoo and park, and about nine minutes from Blackpool seafront. I'd definitely return.

I'm writing to raise several serious concerns and ask for a clear resolution. At present, I'm unable to attend classes because of the booking system and suspension policy, and I can't use the gym because of the facility problems. I expect either a refund for the affected period or access to equivalent facilities. I've copied additional recipients because this needs a wider review of the hotel's service standards. My class bookings have been suspended again. I've gone to the front desk several times because calls to your team go unanswered, an ongoing problem that many people complain about. I asked for the suspension to be lifted but was told this wasn't possible because of absences since March. I understand that policies exist, but this isn't a primary school. I pay a significant monthly fee, more than at other local gyms, and don't accept being treated this way. I tried cancelling bookings through the app, but my messages seem to be ignored. When the app failed, I also tried calling about urgent personal circumstances, as I care for seriously ill parents. It's effectively impossible to reach anyone, and this lack of communication is unacceptable. There is also a critical Health & Safety issue. For months, visible leaks kept dripping and left floors wet, creating an obvious risk of slips or injury for all users. This should have been dealt with straight away. The ceiling eventually collapsed, confirming that the risk was real. Letting the problem continue was entirely unacceptable and failed to provide a safe environment. I've also been told the class schedule was expanded, but nothing has improved. Classes are still overbooked and have long waitlists, making it very hard to get a place. It seems too many memberships have been sold for the available class capacity. To begin, thank you for finally repairing the steam room doors after six months of repeated requests from hotel guests and gym members. It's hard to understand why such a simple problem took so long at a hotel of this standard. As you likely know, members often complained about it and made fun of the situation. I look forward to a prompt response.

The bed was the most comfortable I've slept in, and we'll definitely be back. The pool was clean, relaxing, and enjoyable too. From check-in through check-out, the staff were always smiling, friendly, and helpful, and clearly enjoyed their work. The food was beautiful, especially the steak, which was the nicest I've had. Breakfast was a plentiful, fresh and delicious buffet. The value for money was exceptional, and I can't fault the hotel. Special thanks to the bar lads and manager in Helter Skelter on Sunday night for looking after us so well. Ten out of ten from us.
