The prices are usually really good, and the free buffet breakfast has the usual full English options. I’ve stayed twice. It’s a quiet spot, a short walk from the Tyne, and a quick drive from one of the biggest shopping malls I’ve seen, with loads of restaurants, mostly fast food.

Louise and Richard made our stay. They were warm and helpful, suggested places to visit nearby, and checked that we were comfortable. They even contacted McDonald’s on a customer’s behalf after the wrong order arrived. You can tell they care. We had a fantastic stay, and when we’re back in the area, we wouldn’t choose anywhere else.

We’ve stayed here more than ten times, and my young children love it. The rooms are spacious, clean, and absolutely brilliant for a hotel at these prices. The hot self-serve breakfast is included and works well for the kids. All the staff are amazing.

We were there for two nights. The room was good, but breakfast was a real letdown. We’re vegetarian and don’t eat eggs, meat, or fish. The hash browns were rock hard and the baked beans weren’t hot. I can’t understand the good breakfast reviews, unless the non-vegetarian choices were better, though I’m not sure. I’ve never had such a poor breakfast anywhere. I definitely wouldn’t suggest Holiday Inn to anyone next time.

The room was clean, the beds were comfy, and breakfast was good. We got a very warm, friendly welcome. A couple of staff were fine, but the rest could look a bit smarter. The lad at breakfast especially looked as if he hadn’t run a comb through his mullet.
