The host was kind and accommodating, the one bright spot in a stay that had a lot of problems. The bedding smelled unpleasant, possibly because it had been left damp, and I couldn't sleep under the duvet, so I used my own sweater instead. The floor was in such bad condition that I didn't feel comfortable walking on it barefoot, and the bathroom and toilet weren't clean either. Breakfast was called a “buffet,” but it was just a few cereals, some fruit and snack bars, not what I'd call a proper breakfast. Getting in via the back staircase felt like walking into a horror movie, and the front door wasn't available. I came away disappointed with this bed and breakfast.

A really impressive stay, with beautiful rooms that had everything you could want. There was also a lovely terrace for sitting outside.

The room itself was a nice size, warm and relaxing, with a TV, drawer and wardrobe. The house was being refitted downstairs, so I couldn't really assess that part. I arrived late and got good service from the owner, but ended up using the back alley. Carrying a tired toddler and a bag up the stairs was difficult, so I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone who struggles with outside stairs. You can come and go through the back door without passing through the building. The bathroom and shower are shared with the other five rooms. The shower was okay, but a squeeze with my young toddler when drying her and getting her into pyjamas after she fell in the sea that evening. There are two toilets and a sink between them. The DIY breakfast isn't really to my taste, though it's a nice idea. I noticed the kitchen gets used throughout the day, and it was a little messy when I went in for water, which put me off. The building sits on a corner between three roads, so finding somewhere to park when I arrived was confusing. Parking is on the road, and depending on luck you might find a space close by or further away. It's near the park and beach. We stayed just one night on our way back home from Scotland, using it as a halfway stop. There's a good choice of things to do nearby, so I'd suggest it more for a solo traveller or couple than a family, and for one or two nights at most. The view from my room was of street houses, facing what I think was a Premier shop.

For a one-night visit, we had a good stay and would come again. The staff were helpful and friendly, and our big room was clean with comfortable beds. Although it's above the pub, noise wasn't an issue, and the band finished at a reasonable hour. The toilets, showers and sinks were clean, though the showers could do with a little fresh paint. Breakfast was good, with cereal and toast.

Being able to walk everywhere we needed in Blyth made this a great base for visiting family, and the price suited us really well. The BnB also felt safe, with secure rooms and doors. The owner and staff were so welcoming that we felt at home. Our room was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and everything was very clean. Breakfast was help yourself, which I prefer to having a set serving time. With my chronic illness and diet, being able to eat whenever suited me was a big help. We could make tea morning, noon, or night, and had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our weekend stay and will come back when we visit our kin again.
