We had a really yummy inclusive dinner, and breakfast was just right. The room was lovely, with access to a dog friendly garden, and service was excellent. It’s a beautiful building too, and the location is fantastic, with lots of lovely walks right nearby. Great value, couldn’t fault it.

The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and the charming Christmas decorations added a festive touch throughout. Our room was spacious, spotless and very comfortable. The food was genuinely delicious, portions were generous, and there were plenty of choices for different allergies, which we really appreciated. Prices were very reasonable throughout. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and would highly recommend it.

Even with the restaurant unusually packed because of a large party and walking group, the team kept things running smoothly. They worked to seat everyone as quickly as they could, but never made us feel rushed. The staff were polite, welcoming and accommodating, and their warmth in conversation really stood out. They also checked before payment whether we wanted to keep or remove the service charge. We were happy to leave it on after seeing how hard everyone was working. The food was delicious, portions were generous, and there were great choices on the menu. It usually seems like a quaint, relaxing place for a meal, and even on such a busy evening it still felt welcoming. We’d definitely return and recommend it.

We liked the cosy feel of the hotel, its lovely location near the Cairngorms, and the friendly, welcoming staff. We booked two Classic Double Rooms in the same category and price range, but one was spacious while the other was much smaller and very basic. That difference was disappointing. We also struggled when our daughter became unwell during the holiday period. Though there’s a pharmacy nearby in the small village, the hotel had no basic first-aid items like paracetamol, and the shops were shut. We had to drive to Aviemore to find somewhere open. Even if this is unusual, keeping a few basic medicines at reception would help guests. We enjoyed some parts of the stay, but the experience felt more like a 3-star hotel than a 4-star one. We were there on 26-27 December.

Dinner was the highlight, and it’s changed for the better since we were there five years ago. The maitre'd seemed to take care of everything and did it very well. Your staff were especially helpful, which meant a lot as I’m a wee bit disabled. We used an Itison voucher and have had places subtly or not so subtly change the food or accommodation for voucher guests, but that didn’t happen here. Thank you. We wouldn’t look elsewhere next time we’re in your area. We just wish Garten Boat were nearer and our legs were stronger.
