The Court House

My room was disgusting, and at 2am it was too late to go elsewhere. The receptionist showed me another room, but it was just as revolting. Both stank of cigarette smoke. It looked like the place hadn’t been vacuumed in years, and there were stains and pubic or beard hairs on the sheets, grubby fingerprints, smears of what looked like bodily fluid on the walls, cobwebs and something mashed into the carpet. I wiped a few surfaces with baby wipes and they came away black. There were also extremely noisy power tools going all morning. Some rooms may look like the pictures, but my room and the other areas I saw were run down and dirty. Avoid at all costs.

There was nothing in the room apart from a bed. No soap or toilet paper, no TV, and the phone didn’t work so I couldn’t even make a brew. The room was freezing and the bathroom was baltic. The bedding had makeup on it and wasn’t clean. When I told the man at reception on my way out, he just said sorry about that without even looking at me.

Disgusting place. There were blood stains on the sheets and the rooms smelled damp. The bathroom was the worst, with a towel on the floor that had a 💩 stain, and lots of health and safety hazards. We were told we had to check out at 6am, even though the online checkout time says 11am. When we complained at reception, they told us never to come back, as if we would. I’d like a refund, but apparently refunds aren’t possible. A party or something was going on in one of the rooms and kept people awake. You’re not allowed more than two people in a room, so I’ve no idea why that group got an exception. A sleepless night that left us feeling disgusting and like we needed a shower. Note to self and others, don’t book here.

The room door could be locked, but it opened if you simply pushed it. When I told the staff, they showed me how to push the pin on the side a few times to loosen the mechanism. I wasn't offered another room. I was also charged a £50 deposit and told it would be returned. A week later it still hadn't arrived, even though reception said checkout was fine and I'd left the room as I found it. I said I'd rate the hotel higher if the money came back, but at that point I could only give it one star. Update: they apologised and did try to sort it out, but could only show me a £0.01 charge as proof of the refund. I had to file a chargeback because they couldn't fix it themselves, so I've changed my rating to two stars.
