The location was the one positive: it's reasonably close to the beach and town centre. But we won't return or recommend it. We can usually adapt to different places and conditions, yet the standard here made us feel we had to speak up. £160 for one night was nowhere near justified. The rooms need serious renovation. The wallpaper was badly painted, the floors were damaged, and the furniture was worn out. There was just one shared toilet, with no separation for men and women. In the room, the shower was barely staying together and its doors kept coming off their tracks. Cleanliness was far below an acceptable level. There were hairs on every sheet, stains on the curtains and bedding, and towels so poor they seemed better suited to cleaning the floor. It felt as though making money mattered more here than giving guests a comfortable stay.

They took me straight to a decent-sized room, but it was dirty. I found a soiled baby's bib behind the chest of drawers, and there was dust all around, with grubby curtains too. The bed frame creaked, and the dust had my older daughter sneezing.

This is the room shown in the listing, and it's absolutely disgusting. The shower head has what looks like bacterial growth and needs a proper clean or disinfecting. I'd come out dirtier than I went in. There's thick dust everywhere, and the TV remote is so filthy I don't even want to touch it. Grim doesn't cover it. I can't afford to move to another hotel, so it's going to be a long night. I'm not expecting five-star treatment at a three-star price, but a basic level of cleanliness would be nice.

The bed was unbelievably comfortable, I slept like a rock, and the TV had every channel. It's basic, but the location is perfect, with great pubs, 24-hour shops, restaurants, and a cafe for good coffee. A good pick if you want a big beach day and aren't expecting much. Russell and Billy are characters worth meeting.
