My sister and I had recently become homeless, so we stayed at this hotel until we could secure a property. The manager went above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed and felt comfortable and safe. I’m very appreciative of all the staff’s efforts to make our stay positive and kind.

Room 3 was better, though you have to watch the step into the bathroom. I probably wouldn’t stay here again. In Room 1, a double, the toilet was disgusting. When flushed, it had a coupling to the basin, and the smell was unbelievable. Room 2 was also a double, but the windows were wide open and the room freezing. Once shut, they still had a gap big enough for my fingers between the window and frame. With the wind blowing a hooly, I decided it wasn’t worth staying in that room.

My stay at the Heathlands Hotel in Bournemouth was disappointing from beginning to end. The room’s condition was unacceptable for the price, and the staff response to my concerns was troubling. I have video and photos showing cracks in the walls, apparent water damage on the ceiling, and poor cleanliness. There was mold on the walls, stained bedding, yellow sheets and what looked like bloodstains on the mattress. Insects on the walls and ceiling were a serious hygiene concern. The broken furniture and exposed wiring by the TV looked bad and seemed like potential safety hazards. I took the evidence to the front desk as soon as I found these problems. The staff showed no real concern, offered neither an apology nor a solution, and told me, "Do whatever you want." That response felt completely dismissive of me as a guest. At this price, I’d expect basic comfort, cleanliness and professional courtesy. The Heathlands Hotel fell short on all of it, and I can’t recommend it. Given the severity of the hygiene and safety issues, I’ll make a formal complaint to the city council and request a full inspection.

The staff looked after us well, and the food was okay. Some parts of the hotel and rooms could use a bit of attention, and I found the heating hard to adjust. I'd stay again.

The room looked neglected, with dents, scratches, stray paint marks, and bright red rawlplugs left in holes around the place. The furniture seemed decades old, the bathroom caulking was badly done, and someone had patched the table lamp with masking tape. Breakfast was poor value at about £12. It was a collection of barely edible items: cheap processed bread, instant-tasting coffee, mushy scrambled liquid egg, and very acidic, bargain-basement ketchup. A local organic cafe could offer a far better breakfast for that price. There are cheaper places that are much better. I'd suggest staying elsewhere.
