Queens Hotel & Spa Bournemouth

We had a good stay at the Queens Hotel, and it’s dog friendly. The interiors are lovely, the staff were welcoming, and breakfast had a great selection. Our bed was roomy and comfortable, though the pillows felt a little hard for us. A bottle of water in the room and proper teaspoons instead of wooden stirrers would’ve been useful. I also think parking should be free for hotel guests.

The location was the one real plus, but for £100 this was a disappointing stay. We booked mainly for the pool and spa, yet the pool, spa and sauna were all out of order for the entire visit. The rooms have been renovated, though the older structure still shows and there’s little decoration or interior design. Our room had no gowns, slippers or mini fridge, which was a problem in the hot weather. The king bed was two singles pushed together and uncomfortable, and thin walls meant we heard loud talking late at night and a dog barking. Breakfast cost £15 per person and wasn’t worth it: little variety, and the coffee machine’s odd powdered milk made the coffee taste salty. We paid £15 for parking, but after dinner there were no spaces left. They offered a refund, though parking on the road didn’t feel safe. Our key card failed twice, so we had to go downstairs each time. There was no phone in the room, and reception was hard to reach through the general number. Not worth the price, especially with better options nearby. Money wasted.

We stayed for three days because the weekend forecast wasn’t great, and had a really nice time. The bedroom, spa and breakfast were all enjoyable. Staff throughout were attentive and pleasant, from reception to the room cleaner and breakfast waitress. Parking in Bournemouth is very limited, so we had to pay £15 a day for the car. That was the only thing to complain about.

Being upgraded to a suite made my partner’s birthday extra special, and everyone was so kind about it. Emily and Somi were especially helpful and made us feel very welcome. We also loved how quiet and relaxing the hotel was, with a comfortable bed and a lovely room. The décor is nice, breakfast and dinner were excellent, and the staff were friendly and attentive all the way through. It’s a lovely hotel, well placed for walking to the beach or town centre.
