The Lodge on the Marsh

We stayed one night for some peace and quiet, and got exactly that. Lovely setting and beautiful views, with everything we needed in the cabin. Thanks, George, for a lovely break. TIM & ANGIE.

A peaceful place with friendly hosts ready to help if you need anything. The location works well for walks and trips around the island, or you can just sit on the veranda and take in the view and lovely birdsong. Truly lovely to stay here.

Juliette and George, the owners, were kind, helpful and great to deal with. This is a hidden gem on the island, and the short five-minute walk off the main road is worth it for the amazing view and calm, relaxing setting. It's also a great place with kids on rainy days, with lots of books, a PS2, a Nintendo Wii, plus board and card games tucked into those magical drawers. I'd give it more stars if I could.

We first came for two weeks the year before, then stayed for three weeks and still couldn't get enough. The setting on Brading marshes, at the RSPB site, is stunning, with a side road off the High Street. It's peaceful, quiet, and has wonderful views. George and Juliette are thoughtful hosts who handle all the details without imposing. Juliette brings a gorgeous cooked breakfast right to you each morning, and we still miss it. The big bed is incredibly comfortable, so no achy backs. There's no wifi, just data, though you can use your iPhone's personal hotspot for other devices, such as downloading books to a Kindle. The cabin has a microwave, fridge, kettle, sink, shower and a lovely rocking chair. Sitting on the veranda is relaxing, and there are binoculars for birdwatching and a hide onsite. It's also a great base for walks and exploring the island. A wonderful getaway for a short or long stay, highly recommend. 10/10.
