We stayed four nights at the Blacksmiths Arms and had a very enjoyable time. The room was comfortable and well equipped, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There’s a good range of beers, wines, and spirits, and the menu mixes homely recipes with higher end meals. The food was exceptional. Breakfast was just the right size, well proportioned so you could enjoy it without feeling stuffed, with no huge bowls of beans. We’d definitely come back.

A lovely village pub with a warm, welcoming feel. The portions are insanely generous, the prices very fair, and the service is great. It made our New Year extra special.

I loved the comfortable rooms, and the evening meal was excellent. The haggis bon bons were especially good. But I was disappointed about breakfast. At check-in we were told it started at 8am, and after that evening meal I’d been looking forward to it. We came downstairs at 7.50 to find the place in darkness, waited until 8 on the dot, and still saw no signs of life. We left disappointed because we couldn’t afford to lose more time on an already busy day.

It’s a very nice pub in a lovely spot, but the food was basic and only warm. It arrived so quickly that it felt as if it had been sitting in a hot holding cabinet. It reminded me of a Blackpool b n b place, stuck in the 70s. I was a little disappointed and expected better 😕

We had dinner with a friend and thought the food was amazing, especially the brie starter. The pub is cosy and warm, with plenty of places to sit and eat or drink. Even when it got busy, the tables were spaced well enough that it didn’t feel crowded. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We’ll be back!
