The Great House Hotel & Restaurant

Breakfast was first class. The team were so pleasant, and the bar’s open fire made it lovely and warm on a winter’s night. It’s a cosy, interesting old building, and we got a warm welcome as soon as we arrived.

The Wryght room felt warm and homely, and was wonderfully cosy. I was greeted with a friendly face on arrival, and the service stayed professional and impeccable throughout. Breakfast was amazing, and all the staff were happy and attentive. Such a lovely, welcoming hotel. I stayed for two nights and would definitely come back. Five stars all the way.

We booked afternoon tea for six to celebrate a 65th wedding anniversary. The setting and its surroundings are beautiful, and the food was nicely presented. Table service was second to none, so we’ll definitely be back. I can’t comment on the accommodation, so I haven’t rated it.

We had a wonderful stay. The place has lovely decor and atmosphere, and there’s a nice outdoor seating area. It’s dog friendly, with clean, modern rooms available for pets, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. I had the best filet steak I’ve had in years, and the chef’s taster menu was very good too. I’d ask what’s on that day, since the menu in the room didn’t match what was served. I’m not a fish lover, but the chef was happy to offer me something instead of sea bass. They also took some money off because of the mix-up. I tried scallops for the first time, and even though I don’t usually like fish, they were cooked so well that I really enjoyed them. We’ll visit again.
