The evening meal was lovely, and the air conditioning worked well. The shower was powerful too. Unfortunately, the beds and pillows were rock hard. The room decor wasn’t great. I understand it’s done that way for a reason, but the grey walls made it look like there was mould and water running down them. We booked as part of a business trip because the other businesses at the event were staying here. Breakfast had very little variety both mornings, and although we were there for around 30-45 minutes, it wasn’t replenished. One morning there was no bread, croissants, or yoghurt, and the only fruit was oranges, which was shocking. There was confusion over the bill as well. We’d been told dinner could go on the room and be paid at checkout, but when we left we were told it couldn’t. We paid for dinner, and honestly mentioned we’d eaten breakfast that morning, so paid for that too. We also paid for the next day’s breakfast to avoid any issue. Yet the next day the same person asked us to pay for breakfast again. Parking was a bit steep given there’s nowhere else to park.

We booked the Ibis Bridgwater through Wowcher for £63, including breakfast and a free drink, as a one night stop before heading to Butlins. For the price, it seemed like a decent deal and the location was handy for continuing south. The room had a strange, raw concrete look on the walls and ceiling. A tiny QR code explained it was meant to bring the outside in, with a concrete jungle feel. If you like industrial minimalism, you might enjoy it, but to us it felt more like a university dorm than a cosy hotel room, and the unfinished look made it cold. We had pizza and our free drinks from the bar in the room, which made for an easy evening. The bathroom didn’t really match the bedroom, but that was fine. The shower was lovely and powerful, and the bathroom was otherwise grand, though it could have done with a deeper clean around the edges. Check the kettle before making tea: ours badly needed descaling. After spotting floaty bits in our first cup, we skipped tea for the rest of the stay. The room was very hot and humid, and we struggled to get the AC going. It took ages, and the temperamental buttons wouldn’t let us lower the temperature enough. With the heat and some personal health flares, I didn’t sleep well. By morning the humidity and lack of sleep had taken their toll, and I couldn’t get moving in time for the included breakfast. It’s okay for one night if you need a low cost place to sleep before a busy holiday. Just be ready for the unusual decor, climate control trouble, and a kettle that needs attention. I’d bring bottled water for it.

It’s a fairly new hotel, and I found the room comfortable. The nightly rate was reasonable. The extra parking fee felt out of place this far out of town, though. It comes across as a way to advertise a low room price and then add costs when you arrive.

The location was great, and parking was handy for a one night stay. Our room was new, spacious, and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I’ve taken one star off the service because breakfast wasn’t replenished efficiently.

The hotel and room were both clean and tidy, and the staff were friendly as soon as we arrived. We only stayed one night, but it was just what we needed. Dinner in the restaurant was good too. I’d definitely come back and highly recommend it.
