Premier Inn Taunton Ruishton - M5 J25

We had a clean, tidy room and the breakfast was hot. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. It's great to stay somewhere that cares so much. Thanks, we'll be back.

The check-in team were friendly and professional, but the rest of our stay at the Taunton Ruishton Premier Inn was extremely disappointing. We arrived late with two young children, more than three hours from home, so leaving to find somewhere else wasn't realistic. The family room's main light didn't work. There was only a small lamp in the corner, making it hard to see and raising safety concerns with the children moving around. Reception said the fault had already been flagged. I was shocked the hotel knew before we arrived, yet allocated the room without telling us or offering an alternative. We'd requested a cot in advance and it wasn't there. Luckily I'd brought a travel cot, but the room's size and layout meant the only place it fit was beside plug sockets, hardly ideal for a one-year-old. The bathroom still had toothpaste stains and beard clippings, and the toilet flush was faulty too. Afterwards, Premier Inn accepted that the lighting issue was known before check-in, acknowledged the cleanliness and maintenance problems, and confirmed the room shouldn't have been allocated in that state. Even so, they refused an adequate refund. This is by far my worst experience with Premier Inn and well below the standard I expected. I wouldn't stay here again.

The lady breakfast chef really got the best out of every ingredient and took great care poaching my eggs. The shower was mega powerful, and everything was clean and fresh. Parking and location were spot on, and all the staff were great. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Thanks all.

Nikki on reception was great, top customer service and a real credit to Premier Inn. I used the hotel as a halfway stop because it's close to the M5. Even with double glazing you can still hear the motorway, and I imagine it may be worse in summer with the windows open. There's no chain restaurant attached, unusually, but there's a local pub down the lane with no pavements, or a 'Miller & Carter' two minutes' walk away. A decent base for the area, and I'll happily use it again.
