After travelling from Scotland for a funeral and my birthday weekend, we had a dreadful experience at The oakwell lodge nearby. Miles and his staff, Sue and Clare, came to our rescue at very short notice, just as they were closing for the season. Miles let us in early so we could wash and change for the funeral, and later I found a lovely birthday card slipped discreetly under our door. We stayed two nights and can't thank them enough. The house was beautiful and spotlessly clean. Sue, Clare and Miles were wonderful, and we'd happily return if we're in the area again. Thank you all so much, Trish and Kenny xxx.

We slept really well, with a very comfy bed and fluffy, clean towels. The bedroom and breakfast room were spotless, and the cooked breakfast was excellent. It's an easy walk to the beach, shops and restaurants at all sorts of prices. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and nothing seemed like too much trouble.

Breakfast was huge, beautifully presented and delicious, and there’s free parking too. The town is just a short walk away, with pubs on the route. The hotel was lovely and clean, and the owner and staff were all lovely, including the big, beautiful rottweiler.

We came back in August 2024 after enjoying our first visit a couple of years earlier. Sue and Claire welcomed us warmly, and they were happy to help with anything. It’s a traditional B & B in an old house, with high ceilings and original features, and our bedroom and ensuite were clean. Breakfast was a perfectly cooked, hot Full English. There’s parking on site, and the promenade is only minutes away. For the quality and central location, the price was very reasonable. We took a leisurely walk along the promenade to the harbour, and I like to think they arranged the lovely sunny weather too.

The room was clean and had plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. We had a lovely, comfortable stay, and Sue was especially welcoming. We'd gladly make the six-hour trip back.
