The outdoor courtyard has a lovely, relaxed feel, and the service was impeccable. Dominic was helpful and paid attention to detail. This is a beautiful Victorian style hotel with spacious, modern rooms and easy access by public transport. Just check that you book an en suite room, as some rooms have shared bathrooms.

The rooms were tiny and dirty, the TV didn't work, and neither did the heating. I was freezing all night. Check-in was quick, the only good part of the stay. Later, I went to reception for information, and staff looked at me like I wasn't a guest or hadn't checked in. When I returned to ask for a spoon, another staff member was on loudspeaker on the phone with the gf and ignored me completely while I tried to get help. Very poor, unprofessional service. There was nobody at reception in the morning when we were checking out, so we had to wait until 9am for someone to show up. We'd booked breakfast, but the lack of cleanliness and professionalism made us leave as soon as possible. Worst experience ever!

The day staff were lovely, especially the man with glasses at the front desk. The night staff seemed not to understand hospitality, especially the miserable older man on reception. Don't go there at night for any reason, he won't help. It may have been the rudest interaction I've had with someone I'm paying for a service. Outside the hotel, the area felt very janky, with some not-so-nice locals and dog poop all over the street. There are shops and a McDonald's nearby, at least. It's okay on a budget, but don't leave anything important unattended. Only stay here if it's all you can afford.

For a three-star place, the hotel was better than I expected for the price. Kim at reception made the stay especially pleasant, she was professional, helpful, accommodating, and lovely to deal with. Thanks, Kim.
