Beach Side

The food was the highlight for us. It was excellent quality, portions were generous, and the prices made it even better. From morning coffee through to every meal, the standard was high. Our room was comfortable and well equipped, with a big widescreen TV that was great for watching Netflix in bed after a day out. The West Bay Hotel sits right by a lovely, clean beach that was surprisingly empty in the amazing weather we had, and there’s a small beer garden. The town centre, shops, tourist spots, and walks are all a short stroll away. The town itself is charming and a little quirky. It’s generally quiet, with friendly locals and visitors, and the staff were warm and attentive from the moment we arrived. We could hear a bit of gentle pub noise from the rooms above it until around midnight, but it didn’t bother us. We settled in with the TV. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return. A relaxed, unpretentious place with good food, welcoming people, and a beachfront location. Highly recommended.

The pub may look unassuming, but the Sunday lunch was remarkably well cooked and presented. We visited over the May bank holiday weekend, and they let us bring our dogs. The food and service were excellent, and the bar staff were especially friendly and personable. I’d recommend it to anyone nearby. I just wish there were more vegetarian choices on the Sunday menu.

We ended up staying for a few rounds after stopping in for a drink after 8pm on Saturday. It’s a comfortable place, nicely decorated and very clean, with friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s much bigger inside than you’d expect. They’re a Dig friendly venue, which may or may not appeal. I’d recommend it, and maybe we’ll try the food next time.

We had lunch in the hotel restaurant. The atmosphere was really relaxed and the service very good. The flat burgers were great, and the fish fillet was good too. The food was OK overall, but more generous portions would go a long way.
