We didn't stay in the end. It was so foul and filthy, and I agree with the person who called it a “grande deception.” We paid £270 a night expecting somewhere decent, but it was disgusting.

The place was spacious, modern and very clean, and the location was good. Finding it and checking in and out were easy too.

Great.

The bedding was comfortable, but the rest of our stay was a huge disappointment. We paid £50 for cleaning and arrived to find the dishwasher full of the previous tenants' dirty dishes. We had to restart it and put the dishes away ourselves. There were dirty cleaning cloths in the kitchen drawers, and both the fridge and microwave were dirty. The bedroom carpets clearly hadn't been vacuumed recently. In the bathroom, the shower drain was a problem, the grout had mold, and I wondered whether it was even maintained. The patio was covered in bird droppings and leaves, so we couldn't use it. We had polite contact with one of the landlords and explained everything. The cleaning team came back, but by then we'd already started cleaning ourselves. I'll let the photos show the rest of our ordeal. One thing about parking in Brighton: Powis Square is in a paid zone from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and the fine is £37. A neighbor told us getting a parking permit takes 8 months, though that needs to be verified.
