The apartment was spotless, quiet and excellent value, with all the facilities we needed, a nice bathroom and quality toiletries. The bed was very comfortable, though it sat in an alcove with access to only one side, so there was just one bedside cabinet. On the first night we heard some mysterious furniture-moving noises from above, well past the requested quiet hours. The access instructions were clear, and the welcome website was very informative. It's at the top of a hill, so walking from the city centre is a good uphill trek. Buses and taxis are options, but we walked on all three days.

We enjoyed our first visit to Bristol, and the location was great. Parking across the road cost a tenner for 24 hours. The apartment was clean, pleasant and had everything we needed. There was a strange, slightly fishy smell in the bathroom, perhaps from recent resealing, since some sealants can smell like that. There were also overnight works outside, but earplugs made it okay. I'd be happy to stay again.

The apartment itself was fine and well appointed, but we were woken during the night by loud scuttling, scratching and scurrying in the ceiling. My wife panicked and thought there were rats or mice in the room. I spent quite a while trying to work out if that was the case. By then it was 5:30am. We had to leave for home anyway, although checkout was 11am, so we started packing. The noises eventually stopped, but whatever it was ran all over the ceiling. I'd stayed at Beech House before in apartment 8 and everything was great. This time we were in apartment 3, below apartment 8, and the experience was very different. The next day I got a request for feedback via Google, so I contacted Beech House directly about the problem. Their first response was blasé, and they said we should have called the emergency number so they could find us another apartment. That was an idiotic suggestion at 6am when we were leaving at 11. Something is living between apartments 3 and 8. I suppose I could contact the council, but it's not my problem. They said they'd contacted pest control to investigate. If I hear anything, I'll update this review if possible.

The top-floor studio was cosy, practical and thoughtfully set up. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, the bedding comfortable, and the pillows just the right height. I liked having charging outlets by the bedside table. The kitchen had good cookware and tableware, and the stove was easy to use. There was also a washing machine and dryer with laundry pods, an iron, coffee machine with plenty of capsules, and tasty biscuits. Check-in details arrived promptly and made arrival smooth. The location was quiet, and when I extended my stay the team responded quickly and offered me a discount, which I appreciated. My only real difficulty was carrying heavy luggage up the stairs to the top floor. Otherwise everything was excellent.

I felt safe staying on my own, and the accommodation was peaceful with a lovely layout. The location was perfect. Communication before the stay was great, and the instructions, including for parking, were straightforward. Getting in was easy. I highly recommend Beech House.
