I’m really disappointed with how the hostel handled a record I left at reception by mistake when checking out. It was a sealed first pressing of Kevin Morby’s debut album, worth over €150 and very meaningful to me because the artist gave it to me the night before. I got in touch as soon as I noticed. They took 10 days to reply, then confirmed they’d found it. I’d already left the UK, so I sent a London address for shipping. They acknowledged that email and said they’d be in touch, but they never followed up. I’ve tried again and still haven’t received the record or any more communication. I trusted them to deal with this responsibly once they knew they had it, and the lack of follow-through feels extremely unprofessional. If you stay there, check carefully that you have all your belongings before leaving. If you forget something, they might not return it.

The harbourside location is brilliant, with plenty of amenities nearby, and the price is hard to beat anywhere in Bristol. Booking through the YHA website was easy, too. There’s loads of space to relax, including three big lounges with comfy chairs and sofas, a games room, a dining hall and a restaurant with good food at reasonable prices. The bar has a nice selection of drinks, and the self-catering kitchen has all the utensils you need. Rooms are clean, roomy and ventilated, with heating and handy extras like USB sockets. Beds are comfy, bathrooms are kept clean, and the showers are hot. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. Brilliant stay, I couldn’t fault it.

I had a lovely view of the harbour from my room, though the room itself was a little small. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the place felt like good value and a reliable choice. It’s right by the harbourside, with the city centre an easy walk away.

The relaxed, friendly atmosphere made for a great stay at YHA Bristol. Staff were welcoming and helpful the whole time, and the rooms and shared spaces were well looked after. It’s clean and well organised, right by the harbour and close to attractions, cafes and transport links. Great value for money, and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Bristol.

My friend and I had breakfast here today and it was so good for the price. I was hanging out, so I could only manage some chippys, but I also had a coffee. The crockery was so lovely that I told the waitresses who served us. The food came out really quickly too. Well done, YHA!
