The food surprised me in the best way. We started with oysters, huge hot prawns and burrata, and every bit was faultless, as good as meals I've had in Michelin restaurants. For mains, the kids chose smash burgers and fish and chips, while we had the Boston crab sandwich. The setting was casual and cosy, with a lovely interior, and our waitress was amazing. We'd nearly passed by after considering two other lunch spots, one felt a bit too fancy with the kids and the other was packed. So glad we found this little bit of heaven. The food would fit right into a much fancier place, though the relaxed atmosphere here was just right.

After trying plenty of coastal fish and chip takeaways over the years, these are by a mile the best fish and chips I've had. The fish was beautiful and perfectly cooked, and the chips were chunky and crisp. A.Maze.Ing.

Every dish was perfect, and the staff were lovely. So glad we stopped in while visiting St Mawes.

The seafood curry and hake bourguignon were incredible, and we finished with the lemon posset. Everything was amazingly good and very reasonably priced, served by attentive, caring staff in a great atmosphere. We changed plans after the hostess at the Rising Sun came across as dismissive, and I'm glad we ended up at the Watch House. If you're after something special, definitely consider it. Highly recommended.

We booked The Watch house for my wife's 80th birthday. The food was excellent and the staff were brilliant. Daniel even wrote “Happy Birthday” in chocolate on a dessert plate. Great job!
