The walk into Brixham was stunning, and the reception ladies were lovely. We had a great stay overall, but a few changes would have made it much better. Our first visit was a last-minute getaway, and Caravan 39 was very clean when we arrived. We appreciated the supplied basics: toilet roll, bin liner, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, salt, pepper, soap, shampoo and a tea towel. From there, Torquay, Paignton and Newton Abbot were all an easy drive away. We could see the sea, but the row of industrial dustbins in front of the main view from our lounge and decking, shared with Caravan 40, spoiled the romance of sitting outside for sunset. People walked past within three feet carrying rubbish. Could the bins be moved elsewhere on site or screened with fencing? Hooks are needed too, especially in the bathroom. Leaving things on the loo seat for after a shower didn’t feel hygienic, and a couple on the back of the door would solve that. We’ve stayed in many Hoseasons properties over about 25 years, and this was the first without a fan. The welcome book says towels and a hairdryer can be hired, but doesn’t mention a fan, so we had to go out and buy one. There was no oven glove, meaning we needed two tea towels, and a second oven shelf would help anyone cooking more than one item.

We came back from a wonderful Easter break feeling refreshed. It was relaxing, peaceful and full of lovely moments, with beautiful surroundings and great food. We got the balance of rest and enjoyment we needed, switched off, spent quality time together and made special Easter memories. Already looking forward to returning. Highly recommend for a relaxing, enjoyable getaway.

After many years of breaks at Brixham Holiday Park, we’ve just had a deeply disappointing visit and it will definitely be our last. We even came home a day early, which we’ve never done before. The park has gone from a first-class place to one that’s very disappointing. Caravan No 80 had a new water boiler that gave us only just over a minute of warm water. The maintenance man disagreed, but we timed it four times. I won’t go into how the office handled it, except that it used to be run by three extremely efficient ladies and is now down to one person who is hopeless and not fit for the job. A man called Warren got in touch and offered us a chalet, so we moved. He didn’t tell us it also had no hot water. The new time switch in Chalet 73 clearly didn’t work. The old switches in these chalets were brilliant, but this new type wasn’t. We managed without hot water for two days, then left a day early. After how the first problem was handled, we saw no point in reporting the second one. It’s very sad to say goodbye to Brixham Holiday Park for the last time. For years it was a little gem run by extremely efficient people. How sad.

We booked three nights and went home after just one. The place was freezing, and the single fire made no difference. There were only three plug sockets, two in the kitchen and one for the TV. The two bedroom heaters could easily burn you. There was mould on the sofa bed mattress, and the other mattresses were uncomfortable. You had to switch on the hot water two hours before you needed it. Very disappointed.

We asked to be moved, but the staff at Brixham Holiday Park did nothing. On our Easter weekend in Caravan 87, there were lots of ladybugs and it hadn’t been cleaned properly. A rude housekeeper came to vacuum them, then said she’d leave us the vacuum so we could do it ourselves. She also said she’d be back. The double bed needs a new mattress because it was uncomfortable. There was mould in the bathroom around the shower, and the hot water tank needs to be bigger. The shower went cold quickly, and we had to wait at least an hour for the water to heat up for the next one. I wouldn’t stay there again.
