The walk into Brixham was stunning, and the reception ladies were lovely. We had a great stay overall, but a few changes would have made it much better. Our first visit was a last-minute getaway, and Caravan 39 was very clean when we arrived. We appreciated the supplied basics: toilet roll, bin liner, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, salt, pepper, soap, shampoo and a tea towel. From there, Torquay, Paignton and Newton Abbot were all an easy drive away. We could see the sea, but the row of industrial dustbins in front of the main view from our lounge and decking, shared with Caravan 40, spoiled the romance of sitting outside for sunset. People walked past within three feet carrying rubbish. Could the bins be moved elsewhere on site or screened with fencing? Hooks are needed too, especially in the bathroom. Leaving things on the loo seat for after a shower didn’t feel hygienic, and a couple on the back of the door would solve that. We’ve stayed in many Hoseasons properties over about 25 years, and this was the first without a fan. The welcome book says towels and a hairdryer can be hired, but doesn’t mention a fan, so we had to go out and buy one. There was no oven glove, meaning we needed two tea towels, and a second oven shelf would help anyone cooking more than one item.
