We wanted to eat together for a family celebration, but the children got their roast dinners last. There was an 11 minute gap between the first adult getting a main and the final child being served, even after we prompted the staff. The food was really good, but it was cold by then. We also had to remind the front of house staff to take our orders and clear plates between courses. Disappointing, especially with a table of 12.

The evening meals were acceptable, though the menu could use a revamp. Breakfast was tasty and substantial. The staff were exceptionally friendly and obliging, and Leanne went above and beyond to sort out a problem in our room. Special thanks to Helen and Chris too. Six stars for Leanne!

They’re happy to go out of their way to make you more comfortable, which is what you want. Our room was cozy, with a lovely view out the front, and the service was amazing. It’s not the highest society spot, but it’s cozy. Breakfast was alright, with a good few options, though the menu seemed more like guidance than something specific.

We stopped in for tea with the family on a Monday night. The food was fantastic and well priced, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend!

The pleasant background music wasn’t too loud, and the service was friendly and efficient. We ate here twice while staying just down the road, and were delighted to find a vegan menu. The £10 meals from Monday to Wednesday were a nice bonus. Everything was delicious, especially the spinach and mushroom Wellington, and the sticky toffee pud was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals at the Village Inn.
