The food and drink were excellent. We had dinner and breakfast, and the wines and ales were perfect. The bedroom was well equipped, the bed very comfortable, and apart from a toilet seat that needs replacing, the bathroom was lovely. But we were in room 10 for one night while walking the Wolds Way, and traffic noise kept interrupting our sleep. The room opens straight onto a busy road, and the door and window didn't seal well enough to block the sound. A decent night's sleep is a basic B&B requirement. A voile curtain would also help with privacy facing the road, alongside the lovely Roman style blind. The decor was peeling inside and outside.

We didn't stay at the inn, though I'm sure it would be ellte. The three of us had a brilliant meal at The Fox and Coney in North Cave, with an amazing atmosphere. I had the Chicken Burger, honestly the best I've ever had, truly elite quality. The Beef Sunday Roast was hearty, delicious and cooked perfectly, and the Chicken Sunday Roast was another winner, classic comfort food. Kieran, the manager, deserves a big shout-out. He was hands-down the best, very professional, and made sure the three of us were well looked after. We'll definitely return for another top meal and great service.

For my birthday at the Fox & Coney in South Cave, Kieran and the team made the evening feel special. They were welcoming and attentive throughout. The lamb was absolutely divine, and the food was outstanding. The beers and cocktails were excellent too. A superb meal from beginning to end, with a great atmosphere. Highly recommend.

This was the worst Sunday lunch I've ever had, and at £23.50 plus a service charge, it was extortionate. The beef was very fatty and tasteless, and the vegetables just weren't nice. I eat out regularly and try somewhere new every Sunday. This was by far the worst, both for value and the overall dining experience. There are plenty of lovelier Sunday lunches elsewhere for much less. Don't go, look elsewhere. First and last visit.

We used to be regulars, and this had previously been one of our favourite places in Hull. Tonight fell short of what we're used to. The steak pie was still nice, but it kept repeating on me all night. The mash was cold, so we sent it back; the replacement was only lukewarm. Roast dinners usually come with gravy on the side, but ours arrived with it poured over. A few little details just weren't up to the usual standard. Nobody brought a dessert menu, and then the bill had extra drinks on it. They took those off when we asked, but it showed a lack of attention. A shame, as we would've given it five stars before.
