Our family had a fantastic few days at the Lodge. The hosts were so welcoming, and the accommodation, including the hot tub, was clean, modern, and kept to a high standard. Highly recommended.

Breakfast was very good, with plenty to choose from, and it was hot and ready when we wanted it. You do have to order it the night before, which may not suit everyone. The house is comfortable and well located for driving to lots of attractions, and there’s a fantastic lounge if you need one. The hosts were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I’d stay again and recommend the place without hesitation.

Lindsay looked after us brilliantly. She showed us the rooms, booked a taxi and our restaurant, and even found us an ice bucket. She’s lovely, and this Lady is super woman! The rooms were comfortable and homely, with incredibly cosy bedding, pillows, and quilt. Nights were very quiet, so we slept well, and waking up to breakfast was a real pleasure. The Hotel is in a stunning setting, with every little detail thought through. Thanks to a lovely couple for making our stay such a wonderful experience. Andy & Sarah xx

The house and rooms were lovely, but I wouldn’t stay again. We’re quite young, and the host seemed to think we might rob the place. She kept checking on us every couple of minutes and was rude to us, while being nice and chatty with the other guests. It felt like she couldn’t wait to get rid of us.

I’ve known The Old Rectory, Boduan for many years. It’s probably one of the most beautiful houses on the Llyn peninsula, a Georgian property with immaculate gardens, tucked along a quiet lane just off the main Nefyn to Pwllheli road. It used to be home to the Rectors of Boduan, and stands opposite the Boduan church. The church is sadly no longer in use, though the church yard is well worth visiting. These days, The Old Rectory is a Welsh tourist board 5 star Gold Award bed and breakfast, listed in the Michelin Guide of Britain and Ireland and The Good Hotel Guide. Both guides only list properties recommended by their inspectors, which is quite an accolade. “Bed and breakfast” doesn’t really capture the feel of the place. It’s more of a Country House Escape. I’ve visited and can’t do justice to the beauty of the interiors and furnishings. The current owners have done a wonderful job with their choices for both the inside and outside. The many guest reviews on Trip Advisor make clear how much people enjoy returning. They often mention the attention to detail and cleanliness in the house and gardens, the owners’ helpful and attentive approach, the excellent breakfasts made with locally sourced food and ingredients, the spotless, tastefully decorated bedrooms, and the relaxed atmosphere. The self catering cottage and lodge are also at the same standard and get equally glowing guest comments. The owners are truly passionate about what they do, and it shows throughout The Old Rectory. If you get the chance to visit the Llyn peninsula, this is the place I’d choose to stay. It’s centrally located, with quiet walks and spectacular scenery starting at the end of the drive. The sandy beaches and cliff walks on both the North and South Coasts are only a few minutes away by car. Nefyn, Abersoch, Pwllheli, Criccieth, and Harlech, with their towns and villages, beaches, and golf courses, are a short drive away. Beaumaris, Conway, Portmierion, and Bodnant Gardens also make good day trips. There’s plenty to do nearby, including clay pigeon shooting and game shooting, horse riding, water skiing, sailing, windsurfing, archery, ten pin bowling, go karting, and quad biking. You can also arrange a hovercraft or boat trip. Ffestiniog Railway, the Welsh Highland Railway, and Mount Snowdon offer lovely ways to see Snowdonia. Llechwedd Slate Mines, CAT centre, and Llanberis Electric Mountain are informative places to visit. Out of season, you can have the beaches and roads to yourself. The climate is mild, and the Llyn Peninsula has a microclimate that can be drier and sunnier than the forecast suggests.
