The food was tasty, plentiful and cooked just right. My room was a decent size, with a very comfortable bed, and although the bathroom was on the small side, the shower was really good. It faced the road, but traffic there is light, so noise wasn’t an issue. The inn is in some amazing Yorkshire Dales countryside, with a stream and waterfalls just across the road. I’d happily stay again.

Although it was very busy, the staff were proactive and did all they could to accommodate us. The food was sublime, the beers were great, and the room was warm and comfortable, small and rustic with a modern bathroom. It deserves every accolade. Sorry to see it was for sale in July 2023. I’d highly recommend staying here.

A real gem. The White Lion Inn is our favourite place to unwind, with a homely feel, a roaring open fire in winter, excellent food and a wine list to suit every taste and budget. The hosts are friendly and knowledgeable, and their chef and staff are the best. You get to keep your table all evening, with none of the rushing some places impose with a 90-minute limit. After a good meal, there’s a comfortable bed in a stylish room with extra touches, including a bag of Maltesers. I can’t recommend it enough. I’d give it 10 stars if I could. Thank you for your hospitality!

This was our third stay, and we keep coming back for the pub and restaurant atmosphere and the location right in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales. There’s always been a wood or coal fire burning, and the rooms are quiet and very clean, with modern bathrooms. The new owners really focus on food, and the meals are outstanding. Highly recommended.

We had an amazing stay at The White Lion. Tom at the bar was friendly and great, and the pub had a real ale selection that suited me perfectly. The plum porter was my favourite. Dinner was exceptional, and the service struck just the right balance, attentive and there when we needed anything. Our room was super cosy and well appointed. I wish we could have stayed longer, and I’ll be back as soon as I can.
