We hadn’t booked, just happened to be nearby, but they welcomed us and found us a table straight away. It’s a little gem, with a small art and living studio at the front. I had the tomahawk pork, which was juicy and cooked just right, with a lovely char from the grill. The sauce, gnocchi and greens were all tasty, and the staff were really friendly and attentive.

The three of us all enjoyed dinner, and the dishes looked lovely with generous portions. Our server was attentive without rushing us, and helped with choosing food and drinks. We had a lovely evening at Furzeleigh and would be glad to visit again next time we’re in the area. Thanks to the team.

The Chicken Kiev was homemade, with moist chicken cooked beautifully under a crisp, crunchy coating. It could’ve been an ordinary dish, but it was anything but. I was hungry, so I went for two starters too: focaccia with olive oil and balsamic, plus arancini. Haven’t called food orgasmic in ages, but those homemade rice balls nearly had the nearby town hearing me. Nothing disappointed me, and I’ll be back later this week.

The rooms were clean, well stocked and great, and breakfast was a lovely spread. Tessa and the team looked after us well during our three-night stay. I was in the area for the Marie Curie 13 Tors day hike in Darrmoor. The inn was a lovely getaway. As a Londoner, I found it very quiet compared with what I’m used to. The building’s listed status means you should respect other guests’ noise levels and keep expectations realistic about soundproofing. It also looks like pet dogs are welcome.

The atmosphere was lovely, and the salmon I had was absolutely delicious. The young brunette waitress, whose name I didn’t catch, was phenomenal: friendly, attentive and really focused on people. She has the chance to go far. I’d definitely recommend the place.
