Marine Hotel

The hotel needs a full refurbishment. The rooms are grubby and very dated, the plumbing needs a major upgrade, and heating and hot water were a serious problem. There was no staff around when we needed help. They took payment for breakfast, but nobody showed up in the morning. After that, they started ignoring our calls and emails. There are much better places in Buckie.

The place was absolutely disgusting, and the cleanliness was appalling. The remote control was filthy, the bed was broken, and the bathroom door wouldn't shut. We couldn't shower because the water was freezing. My husband and I stayed Saturday 27/01/24, and I can't believe this is listed as four star. One star is generous. After going out to see the Baldy holy band play, we returned to find ourselves locked out because the swollen front door wouldn't open. We had to whistle loudly for an employee to come back and let us in. The chef's comment about taking a look in the morning made me sick. You're lucky knobby was at the front door when we checked out, because I wouldn't have been able to hold back. This place is a health hazard. Avoid it.

For £60 a night including taxes, this was poor. The lift wasn't working, there were hairs in the bathroom, and the kettle was missing even though everything else was there. The shower never got hot, there were cobwebs in the room corner, and the hand soap on the sink was empty. Breakfast cost £15 and wasn't worth that, maybe £8 at most. I booked two nights and only stayed one.

The harbour location is great, and the staff were very helpful during our two-night stay in May. Our room was nicely decorated, but the reception needs a facelift. It wasn't manned, and the front of the hotel looked unloved. The food was lovely, though a bit pricey, and the restaurant needs updating too, especially the old, grubby carpet.
