Heather and her friend Jade were genuine, down-to-earth, and honest, and both were welcoming and helpful. They knew the local area well, and nothing was too much trouble. Our rooms were comfortable and clean, and the location was ideal, with local amenities right outside and plenty of parking. It’s self-catering, with a great kitchen for making your own meals. Great value and a lovely stay. I only wish I’d stayed longer. Thank you, Heather, Jade, Grace, and Archie.

The two ladies who welcomed us were kind and helped change our room because I couldn’t manage four flights of stairs. After that, though, things went downhill. The room wasn’t ready, so it had to be cleaned and the bed made. I had to ask for a new duvet because the one on the bed was dirty and tattered, and they did change it. There was no mattress cover, leaving the old, tired mattress exposed. The shower had no light while they waited for an electrician. Their solution was a standard lamp plugged into a socket just outside the door, which I put safely back outside. We were four people in three rooms, and no breakfast was provided. The rooms were shabby, with peeling wallpaper, noisy radiators, and untidy piles of books on the landing. There’s an obvious lack of investment and skill in running a successful guest house, and it’s very expensive for what it is. We booked in a rush because we were attending a funeral and didn’t research enough. We won’t make that mistake again.

Heather and her team were friendly and so helpful, and our room had everything we needed. It was a faultless stay. The location is great, there’s loads of parking, and there are lovely shops across the road. The other rooms I had a peek at looked just as nice. A real home from home, highly recommended.
