On our first night of a seven-night break in Bude, we arrived tired and stressed after the long drive. The staff and locals made us feel so welcome, and bringing our four dogs was no problem. They could come into the bar, and there was a dog-friendly section in the restaurant. Siggi had the venison haunch, then tried the venison again and the buttermilk chicken schnitzel, both just as good. I had a ribeye steak and, since then, the best fish pie I’ve ever had, twice. The beer was excellent too. It’s a very modern pub, not usually our sort of place, but still interesting, with old-fashioned values: a warm welcome, great service, and excellent food. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Well done!

I’d been a regular at the Bay View Inn for the previous decade, but hadn’t been back since 2021 until this weekend. It was great to see it busy and lively, with friendly staff and a well-priced menu. I had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the sea, too. Things apparently hadn’t gone so well under the previous owners, so I’m delighted to see how much the new owners have turned things around. I couldn’t be happier to be back.

We came for NYE and sat on the pub side. The vegan food was absolutely delicious, with loads of seasonal options, and the service was really friendly. It’s dog friendly and has a great view of Widemouth Bay. We’ll definitely be back.

We stopped for lunch on our coastal walk, and it was the perfect break. The food was 10/10, with loads of vegan options, including a plantcuterie board with tofu and vegan cheeses. The pub area is dog friendly, the customer service was lovely, and everything was very clean. We loved our visit.

We’ve had evening meals at the Bay View twice now, and both were excellent. The front-of-house service is first class, with attentive staff. Their fish pie is the best we’ve ever had.
